Spain, Madrid, Celebration Treaty of Paris Mondhare, 1763, Décoration perspective de l'Illumination executée (...) à Madrid
18th century copper engraved perspective view showing the Royal Garden of Madrid (Prado) on the occasion of the signing of the Treaty of Paris (February 10, 1763), after which hostilities between Great Britain, France and Spain ended following the Seven Years' War. After this, the British Empire became the European power with the largest number of overseas possessions, after France renounced some of them.
Engraving around 1763 made by Mondhare in Paris, hand-colored with period color. It is part of the series of optical views of the 18th century
The optical views are engravings, halfway between popular prints and reproductions of works of art. The first were published in London in 1720 and later in France and were published throughout the 18th century.
To view them, an optical device, a zograscope, was used, which increases the sense of depth of the image by means of a lens and a diagonal mirror.
Good-very good condition. Some light stains on the edges. Original colors.
