Beautiful large copper engraving with two views of the Reimerswaal. The profile view at the top shows the remains of the now (drawn around 1690) depopulated town of Reimerswaal. Title in a scroll at the top. The profile view below shows an image of Reimerswaal in more prosperous times, seen from the perspective of the artist. Title in a scroll at the top. On the left an insert map with a situation drawing of Reimerswaal at low tide at the end of the 17th century.

Published in the "Nieuwe Cronyk Van Zeeland,..." by Matthaeus Smallegange (*1624; †1710), published by Johannes Mertens, Middelburg, 1696.

Good condition, some age-related browning and some closed small wormholes. Otherwise excellent. Old-fashioned colouring.
