17th century copper engraved map of the sea area around the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic. The now independent island group was in the 17th century a colony to the Kingdom of Portugal. Below left, a mileage indicator, on which putti play with astronomical instruments. Top right a cartouche with the latin and dutch title of the card. Next to the cartouche sea creatures.
