A large 17th century copper engraved view of the city and port of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.

This is a beautiful coloured engraving shows one of the most important points in Spanish colonial traffic. It has the title in the upper area, with the city in the background and showing us in the foreground the protected entrance to the city and different types of boats with various characters, developing everyday scenes. All of this with great detail, from architectural aspects to the clothing of the period.

This print is from Arnoldus Montanus’ book on the Americas; ´Die Nieuwe en onbekende Weereld´, published in Amsterdam, 1671.
