18th century copper engraving with a map of the central part of Spain, centered on Toledo, showing Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, Castilla la Mancha and parts of the surrounding areas. Also showing the most important roads of the time. Decorated with two coats of arms.
Pieter (or Pierre) van der Aa is the editor of the work 'The Royal Palaces of Spain and Portugal, represented in three exact sizes, drawn on the same places, which include the principal cities, fortresses, mountains, churches, monasteries, royal houses, palaces...', first published in Dutch in the city of Leiden in 1707. It is a book containing 165 numbered engravings with views and maps of regions and cities in Spain. That same year, the French edition of this work appeared, which would be republished, also in French, in 1715 and in 1741.
Very good condition. Clean and strong paper. Never folded and wide margins. Hand-colored. White back.
