A lovely mid 18th century copper engraved map by J.N. Bellin of the city of Malacca (officially Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah) in Malaysia.

The key at the lower left identifies nine specific sites within the plan, including a shopping bazaar, a Chinese pagoda, a Muslim mosque, Church for the Dutch (the town was an important trade post for the Dutch East Indies Company, V.O.C.), a Chinese bazaar, hospital, etc.

Published in 1750 in The Hague by De Hondt in the more luxury edition, with text in Dutch and French, of ´Histoire generale des Voyages ou nouvelle collection de toutes les relations de voyages par mer et par terre´.

Excellent condition. Never folded.
