Large folio size copper engraving with a city map of Leiden in a bird's-eye view with the buildings shown on elevation. The city depicted behind the fortifications.
Title on top, bottom left in a box legend 1-27 with the city coat of arms.
This map was first published by J. Blaeu in 1649. This edition was published by Frederik de Wit, in his City Atlas: 'Perfecte Aftekeningen der steden van de XVII Nederlandsche provincies in plattegronden', Amsterdam 1698. Signed at the bottom right.
Very good condition. Folds as published. Some small reinforcements and repairs on the crossing of vertical and horizontal fold with very minimal impact on the image.
