Extra large (99 cm wide) and very beautifully engraved 18th century view of The Hague as seen from the direction of the ´Haagse Bos´ (northwest) with the North Sea on the horizon. With index of the most important buildings. Printed on two copper plates, with the two sides then joined (as published).

The plate comes from: 'Beschrijving van 's Gravenhage.', by Mr. Jacob Riemer (1676-1762), published in Delft by Reinier Boitet, 1730.
The book contains many beautiful engravings of important buildings, churches, monasteries, estates and castles of The Hague.
The plates were engraved by Gerrit van Giesen (1692-1750), Jan Caspar Phillips (1700-1765) and F. v. Bleyswyck. Published by Reinier Boitet (1680-1750).
Good condition, very thick paper and very clear print. Several smaller repairs, mainly in the intersection of some folds with very limited influence on the image (see image). Otherwise excellent. Folds as published. Very wide margins. Clean paper.
